Bed No. 2

Featuring strong lines, exposed joinery and an enjoyably slanted headboard. 

This bed exhibits clean, coherent lines with angles reminiscent of the mid century era, but brought into a contemporary and modern design. The details include exposed angled bridle joints and feet that are subtle, yet instantly eye-catching. The entire bed is constructed with mortise and tenon joinery (super strong) and is finished with a hand rubbed oil/wax to keep a close to wood feel but also protect from a lifetime of use. 

The drawers suspend from the bed and do not go all the way to the floor giving a much lighter and airy feel than traditional storage beds, while providing the same storage capacity. 

Our goal with this bed has been, first and foremost, to construct a piece of furniture that will last well over 50 years without issue. Quality of material and construction is our focus. I hope you like the design and find the proportions pleasing, but we strive primarily to surpass your expectations in regard to quality. A key advantage of purchasing from a smaller scale shop is that we can justify losing our minds on details such as grain orientation and joinery reinforcement. Please enjoy for many, many years to come. 

If storage option is added, the pulls for the drawers are hide leather wrapped around a brass rod and the drawer joinery is also pinned with brass for a subtle, but interesting contrast.

Available in any domestic hardwood including Walnut, Maple, White Oak, and Cherry. 

FINISH
We use a natural (and food-safe) oil/wax finish to protect and highlight the beauty of the wood so that it can be enjoyed in day-to-day activities by all ages without fear. Any spills can easily be wiped off and, over time, a simple application of oil will revitalize the piece as needed based on personal preference. Yes, it's designed to be beautiful, but it's also built to be lived in and a part of your family's life.

Being a small shop, lead times vary as we strive to complete each piece with the utmost care and attention. It is generally 10-12 weeks, but please contact me if you need your order expedited or by a specific date.

ASSEMBLY
This bed is easily assembled in under 5 minutes, using sturdy interlocking hardware to attach the side rails to the headboard and footboard. Slats support the mattress, as well as an adjustable center support leg, leaving no need for a superfluous box spring.
