                         Tactile, sculptural and strikingly modern, this oval bangle bracelet feels as good as it looks.

From the notable firm of Sloan & Co. of the former cabal of Newark, N.J. makers, comes this thick, slip on bangle set with rubies and diamonds. Of 14k yellow gold with a finish that more closely resembles 18k, its bright and rich hue sets off its tubular design.

The front area is arrayed with three old European cut diamonds and two round faceted redder-than-red rubies. The diamonds weigh .60 carats and the rubies .50 carats. The diamonds are visually white and ultra fiery with a color of H-I and a clarity of VS2-SI1. 

This Newark maker bangle rates as a 10 out of 10 for luxury, condition, aesthetics, style and sheer wearability.

Measurements: Will fit a medium to large wrist of 6.5 inches or more. Width and depth of 3/8 inches. Weight of 24.5 grams.

Historical Notes: In 1891 the company became known as John A. Riley & Sloan & Company; in 1895 it became Sloan & Co and in 1896 an office was opened at 21 Maiden Lane in New York City. The company produces elegant jewelry for high-end retailers all across the nation, including houses such as Cartier and Tiffany. 

The city of Newark played a major role in the design and manufacture of jewelry from around the 1800s through to the 1950s with Sloan & Co. one of the major players and innovative for the time producing affordable jewelry for affluent Americans. During the peak Newark jewelers produced 90% of America’s 14k gold and 50% of its 18k jewelry.
