                         Color...its juxtaposition of hues can mean the difference between fab and drab. In this case, fabulous is it in this Art Deco all-the-way statement ring. 

Soft coral, obsidian black and watery teal blue amidst yellow gold create a once-in-a-lifetime ring where Jazz Age sensibilities remain front and center.

The cushion-shaped cabochon of natural coral possesses a soft, pastel hue with a polished sheen on its surface. It measures 13.5 x 11 mm and equates to 7.1 carats.  It is bezel set with a surround of inky black onyx beads wired to the perimeter.

Grand and distingué, the under-gallery and shoulders reveal masterful enamel work. Taille d'epargne (French for saving cut) enamel is a technique where shallow cuts or grooves in the precious metal are made. Then opaque enamel, often black, is fired into the depressions. 

Another type of enameling is also evident for the Caribbean blues which is basse-taille. Transparent enamel is laid over patterns in the gold. The combination of the two is unusual and striking.

All in 14k yellow gold, the ring is American and dates to 1920s. 

Date: Circa 1925. 

Measurements: Length of 3/4 inches by 7/8 inches wide and 1/2 inch high. Weight of 8.7 grams. 

Ring size is a 6.25 and can be sized down with inserts or sizing orbs. Sizing up is not possible due to the enamel work. 

Hallmarks: 14k, indistinct mark.

Condition: Excellent.
