                         Among those in the know, Australian black opals or all opals, are the most coveted. Outstanding with a deeper background, the colors can range from almost jet black to dark grey or deep blue purple. 

On the surface of these gems, the play of color is enhanced by the contrast of darks to fiery neon hues. 

Here a 4.11 carat oval cabochon opal displays a dominance of peacock greens and blues with a few bright flashes of lemon yellow and tangerine. The kaleidoscopic palette virtually dances against the mysterious background. 

Impressively, a sparkling surround of 18 brilliant cut diamonds of .07 carats each, for a total of 1.26 carats (H-I color; VS2-SI1 clarity) illuminates the unique opal with glittering white. These are set into 18k white gold.

Leaving the opal and diamond cluster to speak for itself, a minimalist 18k gold mounting provides the perfect balance for a breathtaking vintage ring.

Measurements: length of 13/16 inches and 9/16 inches wide and 3/8 inches high. Weight of 6.1 grams.
